On February 28, 2026, at about 11:02 A.M., a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the Hawaii Kai area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 37-year-old female motorist was attempting to travel northbound on Kukuau Place when it struck a juvenile male pedestrian who was in the roadway fronting the vehicle.

As a result of the collision, the juvenile male pedestrian was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The 37-year-old female motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.

This is the 9th traffic fatality on Oahu this year compared to 15 at the same time in 2025.

The investigation is ongoing.
