On February 27, 2025, at about 7:21 P.M., a motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist occurred on Farrington Highway, near Hakimo Road in the Nanakuli Area

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Division, a 64 year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway when it struck a 75 year-old male bicyclist who traveled into the path of the 64 year-old male motorist.

As a result of the collision, the 75 year-old male bicyclist was ejected onto the roadway and transported to via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.

The 64 year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.

The 75 year-old male bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

On August 7, 2026, at about 0750 hours, the Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section was notified by the Medical Examiner’s Office that the 75 year-old male bicyclist involved in this MVC had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

At this time it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol is a contributing factor of this collision.

This is the 81st Traffic Fatality on Oahu in 2025, compared to 55 in 2024.

The investigation is ongoing.
