On October 28, 2025, at about 6:06 PM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the Kaneohe area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 69-year-old female motorist was traveling northbound on Kahekili Highway when she struck a 71-year-old female pedestrian, who was walking in the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the 71-year-old female pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 69-year-old female motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be a contributing factor.
This is the 72nd Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 38 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation is ongoing.
