On October 20, 2025, at about 10:05 PM, a fatal hit and run motor vehicle collision, involving an electric motorcycle, occurred on Farrington Highway in the Nanakuli area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 38-year-old electric motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway when it was struck by an unidentified motorist as it executed a left turn at the intersection of Helelua Street from the eastbound lanes of Farrington Highway. The unidentified motorist continued traveling northbound on Helelua Street without stopping to render aid or provide information.
As a result of the collision, the 38-year-old motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and was subsequently transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 38-year-old motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The vehicle which fled the scene was later located parked and unoccupied.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol is a contributing factor of this collision.
This is the 69th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 36 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation is ongoing.
