On Sunday October 12, 2025, at about 3:00 A.M., a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred on Kamehameha Highway north of Kilani Avenue in the Wahiawa area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that an adult male motorcyclist, who has yet to be identified, was traveling northbound on Kamehameha Highway, at a high rate of speed, when it traveled into the southbound lane to overtake a vehicle and lost control as it traveled back into the northbound lane and struck the concrete curb.
As a result of the collision, the male motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
This is the 66th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year compared to 35 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation is ongoing.
