On September 22, 2025, at about 7:00 PM, a fatal hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred at the intersection of North School Street and Kokea Street in the Kalihi area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 58-year-old female pedestrian was attempting to cross North School Street within a marked crosswalk when she was struck by an unidentified male motorist who was making a left turn from Kokea Street onto North School Street.
The unidentified male motorist fled the scene and was last seen traveling westbound on North School Street and has yet to be identified.
As a result of the collision, the 58-year-old female pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
At this time, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.
