On September 20, 2025, at about 8:16 PM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a utility task vehicle occurred in the Waimanalo area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 30-year-old male utility task vehicle operator was traveling northbound on Hihimanu Street when it disregarded a posted stop sign at the intersection of Kalanianaole Highway and collided with a 74-year-old motorist, that was traveling eastbound on Kalanianaole Highway, causing the utility task vehicle to rollover ejecting the 30-year-old male utility task vehicle operator onto the roadway.
As a result of the collision, the 30-year-old male utility task vehicle operator was transported via emergency medical services to an area hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 74-year-old male motorist was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are contributing factors in this collision.
This is the 62nd Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year compared to 31 at the same time in 2024.
