On January 29, 2026, at about 12:20 A.M., a serious motor vehicle collision occurred on Kalanianaole Highway in the Waimanalo area.
A 46-year-old female motorist was traveling eastbound on Kalanianaole Highway near the intersection of Bell Street, when she traveled right of the roadway and onto the unimproved shoulder where she struck a tree.
As a result of the collision, the 46-year-old female motorist was taken via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.
On February 7, 2026, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 46-year-old female motorist involved in this collision had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are contributing factors of this collision.
This is the 6th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 7 at the same time in 2025.
The investigation is ongoing.
