On Thursday, December 22, 2022, at approximately 2:45 P.M., a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist occurred in the area of Kamehameha Highway and Hunaahi Place in the Kaneohe area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a 33-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Kamehameha Highway at a high rate of speed when he lost control and veered off the roadway into the grass shoulder and collided with a guardrail.
As a result of the collision, the 33-year-old male motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 33-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
This is the 54th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 46 at the same time in 2021.
The investigation is ongoing.
