UPDATE: To reflect the Traffic Fatality count for 2022.
On Monday, November 21, 2022, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a fatal motor vehicle collision occurred in the Ewa Beach area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a 58-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on Renton Road when for unknown reasons, the motorist veered off the roadway and collided with a street light pole.
As a result of the collision, the 58-year-old male motorist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 58-year-old male motorist was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
This is the 48th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 38 at this same time in 2021.
This investigation is ongoing.
