On Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at about 6:17 p.m., a Major Motor Vehicle Collision occurred in the Wahiawa area, involving a Commercial Box truck and a moped.
An Isuzu commercial box truck, operated by a 26 year old male, was traveling southbound on Walker Avenue. As the truck continued to cross the intersection with Olive Avenue, a moped traveling east on Olive Avenue, struck the truck.
The operator of the truck was not injured and remained at the scene.
The 33 year old male operator of the moped was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead.
Speed, drugs, and alcohol does not appear to be contributing factors on part of the truck.
Speed appeared to be a factor on part of the moped. Unknown if alcohol and drugs were factors

This is the 47th traffic fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 53 at this same time last year.
