UPDATE: To reflect the Traffic Fatality count for 2022.
On November 8, 2022, at about 9:08 PM, a fatal single motor vehicle collision, involving a motorcycle, occurred on Wilikina Drive in the Wahiawa area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 30-year-old adult male motorcyclist, traveling southbound on Wilikina Drive, lost control, veered right of roadway, and collided into a concrete island.
As a result of the collision, the 30-year-old male motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 30-year-old male motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet a the time of the collision.
Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in this collision. At this time, it is unknown if speed or drugs are factors.
This is the 43rd Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 37 during the same time in 2021.
The investigation is ongoing.
