On October 18, 2020, at about 3:30 AM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist occurred in the area of Komo Mai Drive and Lanikeha Place in the Pearl City area.
On October 18, 2020, at about 3:30 AM, a male motorcyclist, who has yet to be identified, was traveling northbound on Komo Mai Drive at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the motorcycle collided with a curb, and was ejected onto the right shoulder.
Unit 1 operator was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Unit 1 operator was taken to an area hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors to this collision.
This is the 41st Traffic Fatality of 2020 compared to 41 at the same time in 2019.
The investigation is ongoing.
