On October 19, 2020 at about 0445 hours, a serious Motor Vehicle Collision occurred in the Nanakuli area involving a single vehicle with 2 occupants and 1 pedestrian. The vehicle, a 2000 Toyota sedan, operated by a 64-year-old male was traveling in the east direction on Farrington Highway, passing through the intersection of Haleakala Avenue. The vehicle collided with an elderly male pedestrian who was still crossing in the marked crosswalk. The driver and passenger remained at the scene. The male pedestrian succumb to his injuries while at the scene and was pronounced deceased.
At this time speed, alcohol, and/or drugs do not appear to be a contributing factors in this collision.
This is the 42nd Fatality of the year as compared to 41 at this time last year.
