On October 7, 2020, at about 8:45 a.m., a Major Motor Vehicle Collision occurred in the Honolulu area, involving a single vehicle and a bicyclist.
A Ford truck been operated by a 41-year-old male on Poha Lane and attempted to make a left turn onto S. King Street. A bicyclist been operated by a 55-year-old male was traveling westbound on S. King Street in the bike lane. While making the left turn, the bicyclist travelled around the front of the truck and the two collided.
The operator of the bicycle was ejected and not wearing a helmet. He was transported to an area hospital in critical condition with possible head injuries. The bicyclist later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be contributing factors in this collision.
