On July 2, 2025, at about 2:08 AM, a fatal single motor vehicle collision occurred in the Kailua area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 22-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Oneawa Street at a high rate of speed when he traveled off the roadway and struck a traffic pole and a concrete wall.
As a result of the collision, the 22-year-old male motorcyclist was ejected onto the shoulder and transported by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 22-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a factor in this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are contributing factors.
This is the 40th Traffic Fatality of 2025 compared to 16 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation is ongoing
