UPDATE: To reflect the Traffic Fatality count for 2022.
On November 2, 2022, at about 9:35 p.m., a fatal motor vehicle collision occurred involving an adult male pedestrian and an unknown vehicle.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that an unknown vehicle, traveling westbound on Nimitz Highway, collided with a 66-year-old male pedestrian who may have been crossing or walking in the roadway. The unknown vehicle fled the scene without providing information or rendering aid.
The 66-year-old male pedestrian was taken to an area hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The vehicle that fled the scene has yet to be identified.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, alcohol, or drugs are factors in this collision.

This is the 40th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 37 during the same time in 2021.
The investigation is ongoing.
