On June 25, 2025, at about 2:45 A.M. a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Kahekili Highway near Ahaolelo Road in the Kaneohe area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section,  that a male pedestrian, who has yet to be identified was crossing Kahekili Highway, outside of a marked crosswalk, when he was struck by an unknown motorist traveling northbound on Kahikili Highway. The unknown motorist fled the scene without rendering aid or providing information.

The male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, speed does not appears to be a contributing factor. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors of this collision.

This is the 38th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 15 at the same time in 2024.
