UPDATE: To reflect the Traffic Fatality count for 2022.
On Sunday, October 16, 2022, at about 3:50 P.M., a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist was reported in the area of Wilikina Drive and Kamananui Road in the Wahiawa area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 22-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Wilikina Drive when for unknown reasons, he veered off the roadway and onto the right shoulder into the grassy berm area and was ejected into the high grass fields.
As a result of the collision, the 22-year-old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is unknown if the 22-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed is a possible factor in this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
This is the 38th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year as compared to 35 at the same time in 2021.
