On October 19, 2021, the Honolulu Police Department’s Vehicular Homicide Section, was made aware of a male who had possibly died as a result of a motor vehicle collision.
On October 07, 2021, at about 6:45 p.m., District 7 Patrol Officers responded to a report of a bicyclist on the roadway, fronting 2969 South King Street. The incident was documented in a report and the 89 year old male bicyclist was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.
On October 19, 20201, the male succumbed to his injuries and the Vehicular Homicide Section was notified. Upon reviewing the case, it was determined that a motor vehicle collision had occurred, and the case was reclassified.
This is the 37th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 41 at this same time in 2020.
The investigation is ongoing.
