On June 9, 2025, at about 11:24 A.M. a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Kipapa Drive near Kuahelani Avenue in the Mililani area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that an 86-year-old female pedestrian was attempting to cross Kipapa Drive outside of a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a 52-year-old male motorist who was attempting to exit a private driveway and make a left turn onto Kipapa Drive.
As a result of the collision, the 86-year-old female pedestrian was taken to an area hospital in critical condition where she later succumbed to her injuries and died.
The 52-year-old male motorist remained on scene and was not injured.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
This is the 33rd Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 14 at this same time in 2024.
The investigation is ongoing.
