On Saturday, August 14, 2021, at about 7:35 p.m., a Major Motor Vehicle Collision occurred in the Pearl City area involving a pedestrian.
A Toyota sedan driven by a 57 year old male, was traveling southbound on Waimano Home Road. Just south of Hoolana Street, the Toyota sedan struck a female pedestrian who did not appear to be in a marked crosswalk.
The operator of the sedan was not injured and remained at the scene.
The female pedestrian has not been identified and appeared to be in her early 40s. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed, drugs, and alcohol does not appear to be contributing factors.
This is the 30th traffic fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 31 at this same time last year.
This investigation is on-going.
