UPDATE: To reflect the Traffic Fatality count for 2022.
On August 7, 2022, at about 10:16 AM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a moped and a sedan occurred in the Waianae area on Farrington Highway near Guard Street.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a male on a moped was traveling West on Farrington Highway when he collided with a sedan. The sedan was traveling East on Farrington Highway and making a left turn into a private driveway.
As a result of the collision, the male moped rider was taken to an area hospital in Critical condition were he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the sedan was not injured.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor in the collision. It is unknown if either drugs, or alcohol were contributing factors of this collision.
This is the 29th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year as compared to 29 at the same time in 2021.
