On Saturday, August 6, 2022, at about 9:20 P.M., a Fatal pedestrian motor vehicle collision occurred on near the H-1 freeway and Wai Kui Street in the Kahala area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a 53-year-old female motorist was traveling eastbound on the H-1 freeway when she collided with the pedestrian, a 29-year-old male who was attempting to cross the freeway, outside of a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the 29-year-old male was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries and died.
The 53-year-old female motorist was not injured as a result of the collision, nor were the two passengers.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors. The investigation is ongoing.
