On August 6, 2022, at about 4:15 AM, a fatal hit-and-run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the area of the H-2 Freeway southbound, prior to Ka Uka Boulevard in the Waipio area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a female pedestrian who has yet to be identified was walking southbound alongside the H-2 Freeway when she stepped into the lanes of traffic of the H-2 Freeway and was struck by an unknown motorist who has yet to be identified.
The unknown motorist continued southbound on the H-2 Freeway fleeing the scene of the collision. The unknown motorist was possibly operating a dark-colored late model Honda sedan with damages to the front headlight and driver side side-view mirror.
As a result of the collision, the unidentified female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time it is unknown if either speed, drugs, or alcohol were contributing factors of this collision.
This is the 27th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year as compared to 28 at the same time in 2021.
