On September 1, 2026, at about 11:50 P.M., a critical motor vehicle collision occurred on Bingham Street in the McCully area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 26-year-old female motorist with two 25-year-old female passengers and a juvenile female passenger, was traveling eastbound on Bingham Street when she sideswiped a parked and unoccupied vehicle causing the first parked vehicle to collide into a second parked and unoccupied vehicle and a fire hydrant. The force of the initial collision caused the 26-year-old female motorist’s vehicle to overturn. 

As a result of the collision, the 26-year-old female motorist was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

A 25-year-old female passenger was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition. 

A 25-year-old female passenger and a juvenile female passenger were not injured as a result of the collision. 

The 26-year-old female motorist and the juvenile female passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. 

The two 25-year-old female passengers were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. 

At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol is a contributing factor of this collision. 

This is the 26th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 59 at the same time in 2025.

The investigation is ongoing.
