On June 10, 2026, at about 06:52 A.M., a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred at the intersection of Kaahumanu Street and Noelani Street in the Pearl City area.

A 68-year-old male motorist was traveling northbound on Kaahumanu Street and executed a left turn onto Noelani Street, when he struck an 80-year-old female pedestrian who was crossing the roadway within a marked crosswalk.

As a result of the collision, the 80-year-old female pedestrian was taken via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.

The 68-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of this collision.

On July 31, 2026, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 80-year-old female pedestrian involved in this collision had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are contributing factors of this collision.

This is the 24th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 47 at the same time in 2025.

The investigation is ongoing.
