On July 14, 2026, at about 3:17 PM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred on Kapiolani Boulevard in the Moiliili area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 67-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on Kapiolani Boulevard, when he initiated a U-Turn and was then struck by a 51-year-old male motorcyclist, who was also traveling westbound on Kapiolani Boulevard.
As a result of the collision, the 51-year-old male motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and later transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 51-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 67-year old male motorist was not injured and remained at the scene.
At this time, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor in this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are factors.
This is the 23rd Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 44 during the same time in 2025.
The investigation is ongoing.
