On Monday May 30, 2022 at about 0430 hours a Serious Motor Vehicle Collision occurred in the Kapolei area. It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a 57-year-old Waipahu male motorist was traveling northbound on Hanua St. As the 57-year-old Waipahu male motorist was traveling, for an unknown reason he veered into a parked vehicle. The collision caused the Waipahu man’s load to slide forward and collapse the cab with the driver inside.

As a result of the collision, the 57-year-old Waipahu male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.

At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors.

This is the 22nd Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 22 at this same time in 2021.

The investigation is ongoing.
