On June 30, 2026, at about 10:59 PM, a motor vehicle collision involving a single motorcycle occurred in the Kapolei area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that an 18-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on the Kalaeloa Boulevard off-ramp at a high rate of speed when he lost control and struck a concrete barrier.
As a result of the collision, the 18-year-old male motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 18-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor in this collision. It is unknown if drugs, or alcohol is a contributing factor.
This is the 21st traffic fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 39 at the same time in 2025.
The investigation is ongoing.
