On May 17, 2021, at about 10:02 AM a serious Motor Vehicle Collision occurred in the Nanakuli area. The collision involved one motorcycle with one male rider and one sedan with one male occupant. The motorcycle was traveling in the southbound direction on Hakimo Rd. and tried to overtake two vehicles. The second vehicle was making a left turn onto Kuualoha Rd. when he was struck by the motorcycle. The collision caused the motorcycle rider to be ejected from the motorcycle and onto the roadway. The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the sedan was not injured.
The collision occurred in the daytime hours in dry weather conditions. At this point Speed appears to be a contributing factor in this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.
This is the 20st Fatality of the year as compared to 15 at this time last year.
