On January 4, 2026, at about 6:29 AM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Farrington Highway near Liliana Street in the Ma’ili area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 50-year-old male motorist and his 46-year-old male passenger were traveling westbound on Farrington Highway, when he struck a 42-year-old female pedestrian who was crossing Farrington Highway outside of a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the 42-year-old female pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 50-year-old male motorist and the 46-year-old male passenger remained at the scene and were not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision.
This is the 2nd Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year compared to 1 at the same time in 2025.
The investigation is ongoing.
