On January 3, 2021 at about 0056 hours, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the Honolulu area.

An unknown white SUV type vehicle, traveling northbound on Alapai Street, struck a 70 year old male pedestrian who was in the roadway in the second lane from the left.

The vehicle left the scene of the accident and the 70 year old male was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unknown whether speed, drugs, or alcohol were factors at this time.

This is the 2nd Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year.

The investigation is ongoing.
