On June 04, 2026, at about 7:48 PM, a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred near the intersection of Hoomalu Street and Puu Poni Street in the Pearl City area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 52-year-old male motorist was attempting to park on the unimproved sidewalk adjacent to a residence when it struck a 82-year-old female pedestrian who was sitting within the unimproved sidewalk.

As a result of the collision, the 82-year-old female pedestrian was transported to an area hospital in good condition.

The 52-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision. 

On June 7, 2026, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 82-year-old female pedestrian involved in this collision had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

At this time, speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision.

This is the 19th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 32 at this same time in 2025.

The investigation is ongoing.
