On Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at about 1905 hours, a Motor Vehicle Collision occurred in the Nanakuli area involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
A Jeep vehicle, driven by a 50 year old female from Nanakuli, was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway, when it struck a pedestrian just west of Auyong Homestead Road. The operator of the Jeep vehicle remained at the scene and was not injured.
The pedestrian, a 48 year old female from Maili, was not in a marked crosswalk. She was transported to an area hospital in “Serious” condition. While at the hospital, the pedestrian’s injuries worsened and later died.
It is unknown if speed was a factor. Alcohol and Drugs does not appear to be contributing factors.
This is the 11th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 9 at this same time last year.
