On March 9, 2021, at about 12:30 A.M., there was a fatal pedestrian motor vehicle collision near the intersection of California Avenue and Kuahiwi Avenue in the Wahiawa area.

A 66-year-old Wahiawa female was traveling eastbound on California Avenue prior to Kuahiwi Avenue when she struck a maley pedestrian who has yet to be identified who was standing in the middle of the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk.

The 66-year-old Wahiawa female did not flee the scene and immediately called 911 for assistance.

At the time of the collision there was heavy rain downpour.

As a result of the collision, the unidentified male was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

At this time, neither speed, alcohol, or drugs appear to be contributing factors.

This is the 10th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 9 at the same time last year.

The investigation is ongoing.
