On January 1, 2021, at about 10:30 P.M., there was a pedestrian motor vehicle collision near the intersection of Punchbowl Street and Miller Street in the Honolulu area.
A 58-year-old Honolulu male was traveling northbound on Punchbowl Street when he struck a 67-year-old male pedestrian crossing Punchbowl Street in a marked crosswalk. The 67-year-old male pedestrian was taken to an area hospital in good condition. The 67-year-old male pedestrians condition deteriorated, and he later succumbed to his injuries.
The 58-year old Honolulu male remained at the scene of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, or alcohol appear to be contributing factors.
This is the 1st Traffic Fatality on Oahu in 2021.
The investigation is ongoing.
