On May 16, 2026, at about 9:05 P.M., a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Kapiolani Boulevard in the Honolulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a 39-year-old male motorist and his 54-year-old male passenger, were traveling westbound on Kapiolani Boulevard near the intersection of Keeaumoku Street, when he struck a 36-year-old male pedestrian who was walking in the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the 36-year-old male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.
The 39-year-old male motorist and his 54-year-old male passenger remained at the scene and were not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, it is unknown if speed is a contributing factor of the collision. Alcohol or drugs are not a contributing factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
