On March 1, 2021 at about 1119 hours a serious Motor Vehicle Collision occurred in the Kalihi area. The collision involved 1 Bicyclist and an unknown white SUV. The Bicyclist was observed riding in the crosswalk in the westbound direction on Vineyard Blvd. The SUV was also traveling westbound on Vineyard Blvd. and was turning right onto Palama St. when it collided with the Bicyclist. The SUV stopped momentarily and then fled. In the process of fleeing, the SUV ran over the Bicyclist’s leg. The SUV continued to flee the scene without stopping. The SUV and the driver are unknown at this time.
The Bicyclist was described as a 47 year old male from the Kalihi area. He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in “Serious” condition.
The collision occurred during the daytime hours in dry weather conditions. At this point Speed does not appear to be a contributing factor in this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.
