On May 22, 2025, at about 8:15 PM, a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Farrington Highway near Leihoku Street in the Waianae area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that an HPD officer was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway when a 29-year-old male pedestrian, who was riding a scooter, attempted to cross multiple lanes of Farrington Highway outside of a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian entered the officer’s path of travel and was subsequently struck.
As a result of the collision, the 29-year-old male pedestrian was ejected onto the roadway.
The 29-year-old male pedestrian was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.
The HPD officer was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
