On November 26, 2024, at about 5:54 PM, a serious motor vehicle collision involving a electric motorcycle occurred on Kamaaha Avenue in the Kapolei area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 32-year-old female motorist was initiating a left turn from Kapolei Parkway onto Kamaaha Avenue, when she was struck on the rear tail light by a juvenile male operating an electric motorcycle, who was traveling eastbound on Kapolei Parkway, within a marked bike lane.
As a result of the collision, the juvenile motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway.
The juvenile motorcyclist was later taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
The 32-year-old female motorist was not injured as a result of the collision.
The juvenile motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appeared to be contributing factors in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
