On August 4, 2026, at about 6:58 A.M., a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Liliuokalani Avenue in the Waikiki area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 25-year-old HPD Police Officer was was stopped at the intersection of Liliuokalani Avenue and Ala Wai Boulevard, when the 25-year-old HPD Police Officer activated the blue and white lights, executed a left turn onto Ala Wai Boulevard, and struck a 41-year-old male pedestrian who was crossing the roadway in a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the 41-year-old male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition where he was later listed in good condition.
The 25-year-old HPD Police Officer remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
