On August 28, 2026, at about 10:22 P.M., a serious motor vehicle collision involving an e-motorcycle occurred on Ahonui Street in the Kalihi area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a 14-year-old male e-motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Ahonui Street when he traveled into the northbound lane of traffic and collided with an unidentified moped operator. The unidentified moped operator continued traveling northbound on Ahonui Street without rendering aid or providing information.

As a result of the collision, the 14-year-old male e-motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and subsequently transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.

The 14-year-old male e-motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor of the collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are a contributing factor.
