On August 5, 2026, at about 8:15 P.M., a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on the H1 East Freeway in the Pearl City area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that an unidentified motorist was traveling eastbound on the H1 freeway, when it traveled to the right of the roadway and struck a 25-year-old male pedestrian who was working within a coned off construction area.
The unidentified motorist continued traveling eastbound on the H1 freeway without stopping to render aid or provide information.
As a result of the collision, the 25-year-old male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are a contributing factor of the collision.
