On July 24, 2026, at about 7:45 P.M., a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Kaunaoa Street in the Kapahulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that an unidentified motorist was traveling southbound on Campbell Avenue when it executed a right turn onto Kaunaoa Street and struck a 64-year-old male pedestrian, who was walking outside of an unmarked crosswalk area.
The unidentified motorist continued traveling westbound on Kaunaoa Street without stopping to render aid or provide information.
As a result of the collision, the 64-year-old male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital
in serious condition.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are a contributing factor of the collision.
