On February 19, 2026, at about 10:20 P.M., a motor vehicle collision occurred on the H1 Freeway, westbound, in the Punchbowl area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 55-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on the H1 Freeway near the Queen Emma Street overpass when it sideswiped a 47-year-old female motorist. The 55-year-old male motorist continued traveling westbound on the H1 Freeway without stopping to render aid or provide information but was later located after the 55-year-old male motorist collided into the center median concrete barrier near the Pali Highway on-ramp.
As a result of the collision, the 55-year-old male motorist was transported via Emergency Medical Servies to an area hospital in serious condition.
The 47-year-old female motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are a contributing factor of this collision
The investigation is ongoing.
