On January 27, 2026, at about 5:20 A.M., a motor vehicle collision involving a bicyclist occurred on Sand Island Parkway in the Kalihi area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that an unidentified motorist was traveling southbound on Sand Island Parkway and struck a 50-year-old male bicyclist. The unidentified motorist continued traveling southbound on Sand Island Parkway without stopping to render aid or provide information.
As a result of the collision, the 50-year-old male bicyclist was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.
The 50-year-old bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are a factor.
