On December 17, 2025, at about 8:00 A.M., a serious motor vehicle collision occurred on Ahuimanu Road in the Ahuimanu area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 35-year-old female motorist exited a driveway while the passenger side door of the vehicle was open, causing the 36-year-old male passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, to fall out of the vehicle and onto the roadway. The female motorist continued traveling east on Ahuimanu Road towards Kahekili Highway without stopping to render aid or provide information.

As a result of the collision, the 36-year-old male passenger was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.

At this time, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are a factor.
