On September 25, 2025, at about 4:27 P.M., a serious motor vehicle collision involving a moped occurred on South King Street in the Honolulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 42-year-old female moped rider was traveling eastbound on South King Street near the intersection of Alapai Street when she was sideswiped by an unidentified motorist who was attempting to change lanes. The unidentified motorist continued traveling eastbound on South King Street without stopping to render aid or provide information.
As a result of the collision, the 42-year-old female moped rider was ejected onto the roadway and subsequently transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.
The 42-year-old female moped rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed does not appear to be a factor in this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are contributing factors.
