On July 31, 2025, at about 11:50 A.M., a serious hit-and-run motor vehicle collision occurred on Hakimo Road near Paakea Road in the Waianae area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 91-year-old male motorist was traveling northbound on Hakimo Road when he executed a left turn onto Paakea Road and was subsequently broadsided by an unidentified motorist who was was traveling southbound on Hakimo Road.

The unidentified male motorist fled the scene and was last seen traveling southbound on Hakimo Road and has yet to be identified.

As a result of the collision, the 91-year-old male motorist was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.

The 91-year-old motorist was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol were factors in this collision.
